After securing a win, the home side might stick with the same side. The opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill will be looking to provide India with a quick start during the field restrictions. The middle order, consisting of skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube, will be responsible for tackling the spinners and maintaining the momentum so that finishers like Hardik Pandya and Jitesh Sharma can apply the finishing touches in the death overs.

In the bowling department, pacers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah will have the responsibility to take wickets with the new ball. The spin duo of Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy will have the responsibility to take wickets during the middle phase of the game, just like they did in the IND vs SA 1st T20. Pandya and Dube will also have to roll over their arms, while Tilak and Abhishek can also be used as part-time options.

For South Africa, the batting department was a concern as none of the Proteas batters managed to apply themselves on the crease. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs will have to give a solid foundation to their finishers. The likes of David Miller, Marco Jansen and Dewald Brevis can be very lethal with the bat in the death overs.

In the bowling department, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje can come in handy on the bouncy track of Mullanpur. Specialist spinner, Keshav Maharaj, will have the responsibility to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs. However, it will be challenging for the South African bowling order to contain the deadly Indian batting line-up on a good batting surface of Mullanpur.
